About Our Concrete

Concrete Supply

Concrete is the most recent addition to the Woollard product range and builds on the strength of our existing business.

With our yard at Hellingly, Hailsham, East Sussex we can offer a full range of concretes to suit all requirements and our products include floor screed. We operate a delivery fleet which spans volumetric trucks of 9.5m3 and 7.5m3 capacities. You can also collect concrete in your own vehicle.  We also supply a concrete pump to give you a one stop shop.

Concrete Mixes

Our aim is to ensure that our customers receive the right concrete for the job. Concrete is produced by our own trucks using primary aggregates to produce a quality product with routine testing carried out to ensure consistency in the product.

Please note

Our own mixes for particular Applications are proven mixes for those Applications. Some are not available on a supply only basis.

We stock 10mm aggregates size if required from the usual 20mm.  Please contact our sales team.

For structural reinforced concrete applications, please contact us to discuss your requirements on 01323 441396 Ext 2.

Concrete containing any embedded metal should be specified as reinforced.

A higher strength or cement content concrete may be required for power float finish or other finish types.

Some soils are potentially aggressive to concrete and it is important to take this into account. If there is no professional advisor, the local building control officer may be able to advise whether the local soil contains sulphates and if so, how aggressive it is.

Fibre is designed for use in structural concretes such as large section precast units, parking areas and industrial flooring.

Applications
When adding fibre to the concrete mix this will significantly improve the durability and residual strength. Tensile and impact strengths are also considerably improved. Fibre may be used to add reinforcement to mixes where none is present, or to partially replace traditional steel reinforcement.

Benefits in concrete
• Increased impact resistance
• Increased tensile strength
• Improved resistance to spalling & edge damage
• Plastic shrinkage crack reduction
• Fire resistance
• Improved residual strength
• Potential to reduce section thickness
• Non corrosive and non-rusting

Handling
The fibre is a non-hazardous product but in line with normal handling procedures, personal protective equipment should be worn.

Notes
For maximum strength gain and the most effective dispersion of the fibres, Woollycrete recommend the use of a high performance admixture to complement the fibres.

This accelerates the setting time of concrete by speeding up the hydration process of cement, therefore increasing the early age strength of the concrete.

Applications
The accelerator is beneficial in cold temperatures when the hydration process has been slowed down. The accelerator can also be used to accelerate the setting time of concrete, therefore speeding up the setting time.

Benefits in concrete
• Accelerated strength
• Improved setting times
• Non-chloride
• Non-corrosive
• Increased production
• Cold weather working
• Faster de-moulding

Handling
Our accelerator is classified as an irritant, eye protection and impervious gloves should be worn, in line with normal handling procedures, personal protection equipment should always be worn.

Notes
The accelerator should be added with the water or at the end of the mixing process and not directly onto the cement.

This is an economical mid-range water reducer, it is designed to improve workability of the concrete with minimal effects on other properties, if used correctly can achieve water reductions of up to 18%.

Applications
The plasticiser is used to improve workability of the concrete, water content is reduced then a significant increase in strength can be achieved.

Benefits in concrete
•Increased early and final strength
•Reduced shrinkage
•Reduced permeability
•Increased density
•Reduced segregation and bleeding

Handling
The Plasticiser is a non-hazardous product but in line with normal handling procedures, personal protection equipment should be worn.

Notes
The plasticiser should be added with the water or at the end of the mixing process and not directly onto the cement.

This is a specially formulated blend of synthetic surface active agents designed to entrain controlled and stable quantities of air in concrete mixes.

Applications
This is used to entrain controlled and stable quantities of air into concrete which in turn provides the user with improved resistance to freeze thaw conditions.

Benefits in concrete
•Increased resistance to freeze thaw cycles
•Increases retention of mix water
•Reduces segregation
•Increases yield
•Accurate dosing
•Mix design optimisation

Handling
This is a non-hazardous product but in line with normal handling procedures, personal protective equipment should be worn.

Notes
This should be added with the water or at the end of the mixing process and not directly onto the cement. A mixing time of at least 30 seconds is recommended after the addition of the admixture.

If overdosed this will result in an increase in air content and a reduction of strength, severe overdosing will result in the concrete being not fit for purpose.
